Kim Ironmonger is a celebrated Toronto bridal designer renowned for her couture artistry and meticulous craftsmanship, creating gowns as unforgettable as the women who wore them. At just 21years old, she opened her Bridal boutique on Bloor Street in 1985 — and never looked back.

As the founder and designer of Valencienne Bridal, Kim built one of Canada’s premier bridal destinations, where handcrafted, hand-embellished couture silk gowns were her hallmark. Her signature use of intricate beadwork, fine lace appliqué, and old-world techniques made her designs instantly recognizable. Over a remarkable 37-year career, she dressed celebrities such as Whoopi Goldberg, Elizabeth Hurley, and Suzanne Somers, Saudi Arabian princesses, and the wives of hockey legends Steve Yzerman, Doug Gilmour, and Mark Messier.

Beyond bridal fashion, Kim emerged as a respected creative force across the industry. She contributed couture pieces to the White Cashmere Collection — Canada’s acclaimed annual runway event supporting breast cancer initiatives — and two of her tissue-crafted bridal gowns appeared in a national television commercial. She also designed for Fashion Cares, sponsored by MAC Cosmetics, and one of her dramatic couture pieces earned a coveted spot on a Times Square billboard.

In October 2022, Kim made the heartfelt decision to sell Valencienne and step into a new chapter — one rooted in personal creativity, human connection, and joy. From that transition, Heartfelt Workshops was born.
More than art classes, Heartfelt Workshops are immersive, soul-nourishing experiences where creativity, self-expression, healing, and humour converge. Drawing on a lifetime of couture craftsmanship, Kim guides both complete beginners and seasoned creatives through thoughtfully curated workshops in Kintsugi, collage, painting, textiles, and mixed media. Participants leave not only with a beautiful handmade piece but also with renewed confidence, calm, and a sense of reconnection in an often hectic world.
Kim is writing a book about her extraordinary life as a couture bridal designer in a major city — a story filled with glamour, chaos, humour, heartbreak, artistry, and moments you couldn’t make up.
Known for her hearty laugh, quick wit, and larger-than-life personality, Kim has lived through countless adventures, reinventions, and the beautifully messy parts of being human. Through Heartfelt Workshops, she brings it all — her expertise, warmth, honesty, and hard-won wisdom — to every experience she creates.

Her philosophy is simple: life is short, connection matters, and every day deserves a little beauty, creativity, and laughter. Kim Ironmonger has built not just one extraordinary life but several, and she’s not finished yet.

“Her mission now is to prove that creativity lives in everyone — and through Heartfelt Workshops, to turn every ‘I’m not artistic’ into the most satisfying words a person can say: ‘I cannot believe I made this.'”
