Why Perfection Is the Biggest Creativity Killer

One of the first things I tell every workshop participant is simple:

Leave perfection at the door.

Many people arrive believing they aren’t artistic enough, creative enough, or talented enough. They’ve convinced themselves that every brushstroke needs to be perfect before they even begin.

The truth?

Creativity isn’t about perfection.

It’s about exploration.

Every unexpected splash of paint, torn piece of paper, or imperfect line becomes part of the story your artwork tells.

When we stop worrying about making mistakes, we start discovering possibilities we never imagined.

The most beautiful pieces often come from moments that weren’t planned.

So give yourself permission to play.

Your creativity has been waiting patiently.

The fear of making mistakes prevents more people from creating than a lack of talent ever could.
